French Immersion in New Westminster will be the subject of a national radio
documentary to be broadcast this Sunday, May 16th on the full CBC network
across Canada.
The 14 minutes documentary prepared by National reporter Jeanette Kelly will
be on-air between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. as part of "The World This Weekend"
on CBC-Radio 1. (690 on
the AM dial) The documentary will focus on the efforts of local parents and
Canadian Parents for French to bring Early French Immersion to the Royal City.
It will include interviews with local parents, members of Canadian Parents
for French and school district officials.
"Early and Late French Immersion programs are both a great success in
New Westminster. This documentary will bring positive recognition to our community
and the public school system," noted Adrian Dix, Executive Director,
Canadian Parents for French - BC & Yukon Branch.
Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is the national network dedicated to the
promotion and support of French Second Language learning opportunities for
young Canadians. There are more than 6,000 members of CPF in BC, more than
twice as many as any other province.
