World Teachers Day is coming up this year on Monday October 5. This special day is a great opportunity for you to personally acknowledge the hard work and dedication of an FSL teacher in your community. Pass the word on to your friends and family and remember to thank a teacher on this important day! |

Post-secondary options in French Information Evening |

We would like to thank all the parents who invested in their children's future and came out to the post-secondary information session. CPF is also grateful to the five participating institutions Collège Éducacentre, Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, University of Ottawa and University of Victoria that presented options for youth interested in post-secondary studies.

The five participating institutions in our information session are Collège Éducacentre, Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, University of Ottawa and University of Victoria. Each will speak for 20 minutes to highlight the ways students can continue feeding their love of French after high school graduation. You will have time to ask questions once all have made their presentations. There will be brochures and other support material for you to take home.
The information session will take place on Wednesday evening, November 26 at the Holiday Inn Express Metrotown, 4405 Central Blvd., Burnaby. Francophone Youth Parliament |

|
Thanks to a partnership with the Conseil Jeunesse, French immersion students with strong French language skills may apply to attend the Francophone Youth Parliament in Victoria from January 16 to 18, 2009. The fee is only $150 and that includes EVERYTHING: Airfare, bus or ferry, ground transportation to downtown Victoria, shared accommodation (four to a room), all meals, training sessions and the full mock parliament proceedings at the Legislature. The hotel selected is the Harbour Towers which is a short walk from the Legislature.

September 1st to October 31st CPF’s membership drive runs each September and October. This year, in recognition of CPF-BC & Yukon branch’s 30th anniversary, we have pulled out all the stops and lined up spectacular prizes worth thousand of dollars! Not only that, at least 90% of your membership fee will come back to your chapter during the membership drive. That means more fun events in the schools, more resources for parents and teachers, and more great camps, contests, and extracurricular activities in French for the kids! Contact your local CPF chapter for details about activities held in your district and school.
