Concours national de poésie en immersion française
This annual competition was created in 2008 by the Festival International de la Poésie (FIP), Collège Laflèche and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). 1st Prize is a scholarship covering two years of collegial studies, followed by 3 years of university study at the sponsoring Post-Secondary Institutions. 2nd Prize is three weeks of the French Immersion at the École Internationale de français (EIF), a program that has an estimated value of $1200, and includes University style courses, meals, lodging and socio-cultural activities. $10,000 in Summer Camp Scholarships Available for Exceptional Kids
The Winning Techniques Camp wants to reward excellence in outstanding young people by giving them the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful summer camp experience. The Winning Techniques Camp offers 10 specialized sports programs and over 20 fun Traditional Camp Activities.

Twenty (20) $500 Scholarships for the following programs will be awarded for summer 2010:

The nominees must be between the ages of 6 to 16, have a passion for sport, contribute to their communities and demonstrate academic effort/achievement. SEVEC 2011 Calendar on Bilingualism – Drawing Contest!
Do you like to draw? Are you currently in grades 7-12 and studying French or English as a second language? Do you feel passionate about Bilingualism? Tell us what bilingualism means to you by entering the SEVEC 2011 Calendar on Bilingualism Drawing Contest!

SEVEC is looking for your artwork and ideas on promoting second-language learning both in the classroom and in daily activities. Send your drawing and tips on learning a second language to SEVEC by the contest closing date for a chance to have your winning entry a part of the SEVEC 2011 Calendar on Bilingualism. Your winning entry could be distributed to over 800 schools, Members of Parliament and Second-Language Consultants at Ministries of Education across Canada!

This contest is open to all Canadian students in grades 7-12. Entries must be post-marked no later than May 14th to be considered. If your entry is chosen for the calendar, your name, school and province will be mentioned, and you will receive a small gift as well as a copy of the calendar for yourself and your classroom. A grand prize of $75.00 will be awarded for the cover design!

  • Read the contest rules;
  • Print off the Entry form;
  • Have your parent sign your entry form;
  • Mail your drawing along with the contest entry form with your tips on second-language learning to SEVEC by the closing date.

CONTEST RULES:

  • Your drawing must be in color and on a white 8.5 x 11” piece of paper – smaller or larger will not be accepted;
  • Your Parent must sign the entry form;
  • Any words used in the drawing should be checked with your teacher for correct spelling;
  • Do not write your name anywhere on the drawing, or your entry will be disqualified.
  • Your name, school and province should be written on the back of your drawing in pencil (not in pen or marker as it might show through when scanned).

 

SOARS Awards
The Canadian Club of Vancouver is once again presenting its Canada SOARS Awards Program for all senior secondary students with a minimum GPA of 73% on their most recent transcript.

The Canada SOARS Awards program was designed 8 years ago to celebrate youth achievement, encourage young Canadians to consider both what it means to be Canadian, and to become engaged citizens. Every year the number of applicants grows.

This years application includes an essay of 500 words (maximum) on the topic “The use of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter by youth as a means of building a stronger Canada. Please articulate your thoughts on the importance of social networking, its benefits or its problems drawing on your own experience within your school or beyond.” There are various cash prizes ranging from $200 - $500. The deadline is May 3, 2010. Click here to download the application form. There will be an awards ceremony in May to host all applicants. Francophone Youth in Action
The "Francophone Youth in Action" aims to promote French by youth for youth.
The Centre of the Francophonie of the Americas invites you to celebrate the richness and diversity of the French language. What would you do to stimulate the use of French among young people in your community? Answer this question by producing a video clip showing an exciting project for your community, your school or your cultural background.

Five $ 5,000 scholarships will be awarded to the best projects. These scholarships are offered by the Centre of the Francophonie of the Americas so you can make your project. "Francophone Youth in Action" is aimed at candidates imaginative and ingenious! Prepare your cameras, cell phones or web cam and show us the projects that are both realistic and original can encourage young people to use French in their daily lives.
