French Travel Options for Grade 9-10 Students PDF Print E-mail

Usually French immersion high school students in grade 10 (and sometimes 9) have the option of doing a two week educational trip to France with their teachers over spring break. The trip usually includes a home stay period. The teacher volunteer effort to make these trips possible is much appreciated.

Sometimes French immersion high school grade 10 students can elect to do a 1 to 3 month exchange, with a student in, for example, Quebec or France, where they attend each other's school together.

The following are sources of further information about trips and exchanges (both group and individual):

CPF Vancouver Quebec and France trip resources

CPF BC & Yukon information about exchanges

CPF National information about exchanges and trips.  This page also includes links to French summer camps and work and voluteer opportunities.

The Kitsilano PAC web page for CPF includes information about the Kits school French trip and other French travel options (scroll down to blue box).

Some of the main trip and exchange (both group and individual) organizations are:
- SEVEC, a charity that organizes educational trips and exchanges within Canada.
- OSEF organizes individual exchanges from France between France and Canada and is associated with CEEF (Canadian Educational Exchange Foundation, a not for profit group).
- The Canadian Government’s Heritage Department offers information about exchange associations. Their delivery organizations include SEVEC and OSEF, among others.

There are also numerous summer French travel possibilities.  Nacel Inc is a sample organization.

The Quebec and France trips enrich the students' learning of French language and culture.
